Samuel Manning, son of William Manning of Cambridge, bought the late Thomas Hubbard's land grant in 1662. He served the town as both selectman and town clerk over many years, and represented Billerica in the General Court in 1695 and 1696. In 1664 he married Elizabeth Stearns, sister of John Stearns. He died February 22, 1710-11.
